 ' Regional Knowledge Forum ''
'The “Human Mobility in the Context of Climate Change Adaptation, Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development Goals in the Hindu Kush Himalayas” was organized by NIDS and was held at ICIMOD headquarters in Nepal on 14-15 September 2017. It was a Regional-level Knowledge Forum with more emphasis on discussions about issues of climate change impacts, adaptation, resilience and human mobility in the Himalayas. This workshop was funded by the European Union, the Federal Government of Germany and Norwegian Refugee Council. Participants from Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Bhutan and Pakistan, and experts from IOM and other agencies too attended the two-day-long event.

 'Rapid assessment in Kerung'
The Nepal institute of Development Studies (NIDS) conducted a rapid Assessment of the girls, boys and children working in different hotels and resturants in the Rasuwagadi border region with particular focus on Timure and Ghatte Khola. Due to earthquake, the major route to Nepal from China,the Tatopani had been blocked. After disastrous earthquake and landslide human settlement in Tatopani collapsed. This resulted an altenative route to import chinese goods and materials from Rasuwagadhi of Rasuwa district. Then, Rasuwagadhi flourished its economy.But it also had negative consequences by becoming hub for women trafficking.In this project, NIDS identified the situation of girls, boys and women working in hotels and resturant in Rasuwagadhi Boarder. It understood the situation of women and girls exploitation and trafficking in the Rasuwagadhi boarder area and it also identified the process of migration of girls and women from Nepal to China.

 ''The workshop on Gender Relation and Female Migration for Construction Work within Nepal''
This workshop is jointly hosted by the Sussex University,UK and Nepal Institute for Development Studies (NIDS) that aims to present the findings of the study on gender relations within the family and workpace from rural to urban areas for construction work. The study investigates who migrates and why, how the migration decision is taken and the negotiations involved at the household level, whether the migration has elements of coercion, who is left behind and why, the process of migration, working conditions and gender relations at the workplace, and the overall impact on migrants and families. This program was held on 19th April, 2017 at SAP Falcha House, Babarmahal, Kathmandu.

 'Code of conduct of NAFEA consultation workshop'
In collaboration with UN Women and of Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Agency (NAFEA), NIDS organized consultation on Implementation of Code of Conduct of strategy of NAFEA it has been eight years since the Code of Conduct of NAFEA is implemented. However, a more strategic and effective implementation would improve the image of the FEAs. Such an implementation would be beneficial for migrant workers too. Thus, consultation was organized to prepare the action plan based on CoC strategies and make agencies responsible and accountable towards migrant workers and their families, making foreign employment a respectable, professional and organized business, increase coordination and cooperation among the agencies, safeguard the rights of women workers in foreign employment.

 'Land Rights through the Lens of an Artist'
Women’s land right, in law and in practice, is an essential step towards the empowerment of women. It is also critical in determining economic wellbeing and social status of women. In an effort to exchange ideas and raise awareness on this issue in a creative way, Lasanaa, in collaboration with NIDS, organized an art exhibition 'Kalalar ko aankhana bhumi (Land through the eyes of artist) in the NAFA Hall, Naxal, Kathmandu. A total of 26 artists and 2 poets were involved....
